Bruce Kitchen, LMT Hello, my name is Bruce Kitchen and I am co-owner of Rub Bug Spa. My training comes from AICM(American Institute of Clinical Massage) in Post Falls and Northwest Noetics in Spokane WA. I have worked for 6 years in various settings and ran a successful mobile business. I became licensed in June of 2014 when state legislature changed the state laws from only needing to be Certified to needing to be licensed. In 2013 my wife and I set out to open and run our own business together and began searching for a home for Rub Bug Spa. After a while of searching we were lucky to be invited to a water seminar at the Atrium Building. We fell in love with the building with all of the real plants and trees with the water fall and lazy river. My massage is tailored to the needs and issues of each person individually whether it be deep tissue, reflexology, pressure point, hot stone or just relaxation. I also work on injuries that treatment is under medical massage. I will follow doctors instructions. I offer a relaxed clean environment and soft music and if a client has a curtain type of music they might like, they can bring it in to play. We are always looking to better ourselves here at Rub Bug Spa with learning different modalities of treatment on the body through continuing education. Here is a little about myself…..I have always been a compassionate person wanting to help others. People with Special Need have always held a special place in my life. I worked 18 plus years with people with special needs in many different settings. It was a great time of learning for me because I was shown and taught so much by the people that I was assisting in their daily lives. Now I have taken this and have applied what I’ve learned to better myself and my passion of massage. Case in point….. I have always been fascinated with Sight Challenged individuals that can see, but not like you and I, so I started to close my eyes while working on my fellow students in massage school. It was a whole new universe seeing with my hands. In my mind I see the muscles, bones, joints. It’s amazing to me when you close your eyes and turn off the visual noise and listen and see with the hands. I have worked a lot of different jobs in my life from electrical assembly to digging ditches, but massage is my passion and where I will stay.
